Located in Pinellas County, the Clearwater Campus provides both recreational and competitive soccer programs for children aged 4 to adult. The recreational program emphasizes growth, development, and enjoyment of the game, offering in-house leagues for younger players and travel leagues for older age groups.
Across all 3 campuses of the Chargers Soccer Club (Clearwater, Lakewood Ranch & Tampa) the Chargers’ Competitive Program is for competitive and premier level players, between the ages of 7 and 19, who demonstrate the desire and ability to learn and play soccer in a higher competitive format where the mission is to train and develop skilled players. The Competitive Program is designed to develop each individual player to his/her fullest potential while at the same time inspiring responsibility and commitment to a team.
Chargers Soccer Club is excited to introduce a new and improved training program designed to elevate player development through a structured and progressive curriculum. With a renewed focus on technical, tactical, and physical training, we are committed to providing every player with a clear pathway to success through our tiered team structure and enhanced coaching methodologies.
Our youth academy (U7-U12) features a tiered team structure comprising Yellow, Red, and White teams, allowing players to grow within a supportive and competitive environment. This structure ensures that as players develop their skills, they have a natural progression within their community and a clear path for upward mobility. The addition of the Pre MLS program at each campus is for players in the U9 – U12 age groups. For players aged U13 through U19, we offer Select, Premier, and Elite teams at each location, providing a framework that fosters continued growth and excellence.
This tiered approach enables our coaches to better focus on player development at every level. Red, White, and Elite teams are designed to hone the skills of emerging players, while Yellow, Premier, and Select teams challenge and stretch more advanced players to reach new heights. Additionally, our structure allows for cross-campus teams to be formed across our Clearwater, Lakewood Ranch, and Tampa locations for specific competitions, enhancing opportunities for all Chargers players.
A Curriculum Designed for Excellence
Developed by our highly credentialed technical staff, our competitive program integrates the best methodologies from top soccer programs in the United States and abroad. Our technical staff is continuously engaged in professional education and bring their expertise to ensure our coaches, teams, and players receive world-class training.
Each Chargers Soccer Club competitive team is led by an experienced coach dedicated to both individual player growth and team development. Our technical staff work closely with these coaches, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure every player benefits from a comprehensive and strategic development plan.
Opportunities for Advancement and Exposure
In addition to playing for their community-based Chargers teams, players will have multiple opportunities to be evaluated for club-wide tournament teams and consideration for the prestigious MLS Next and MLS Next II Academy Teams (U13b, U14b, U15b, U16b, U17b & U18/19b).
As a regional club with competitive teams at multiple campus sites, we also offer internal guest-playing opportunities. For high-profile tournaments Chargers players from across the club may be invited to join teams in need of additional players. This initiative not only strengthens team rosters but also provides valuable exposure and experience for participating players.
A Competitive Program Built for Success
The Chargers Competitive Program is structured to promote both player and team development while ensuring organized internal mobility and opportunities for additional competitive experiences. Our program fosters a culture of growth, commitment, and excellence that prepares players for success on and off the field.
Competitive team selection is determined through a rigorous tryout process conducted at each campus site. Tryouts typically take place over 1-2 weeks at the beginning of May. Depending on the number of players selected per age group, multiple teams may be formed at each club location.
Chargers competitive teams participate in area and regional leagues, traveling throughout the region for league matches and tournaments. Teams train a minimum of two to three times per week, depending on age group and development level, with league games primarily scheduled on weekends.
At Chargers Soccer Club, we are committed to providing a structured and professional training environment where players can thrive. With our enhanced curriculum, tiered team structure, and expert coaching staff, we are setting a new standard for youth soccer development. Join us and take your game to the next level!

The Chargers Soccer Club Recreational Program provides a fun, engaging, and community-based environment for players aged 4 to 19. Designed as an introductory and developmental program, it offers boys and girls of all skill levels the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of soccer in a positive and supportive setting.
For our youngest players, ages 4 to 6, the program serves as an introduction to the sport. This stage focuses on developing fundamental soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting through age-appropriate activities and small-sided games. The emphasis is on learning through play, ensuring that each child gains confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills in a fun and encouraging environment.
Led by trained volunteer coaches, sessions are structured to introduce the basic rules of the game while keeping practices and matches enjoyable and interactive. This early-stage program fosters social development, sportsmanship, and a love for the game that sets the foundation for future soccer experiences.
As players progress, the program expands to provide a more structured development pathway while maintaining a recreational and fun-first approach. Training sessions and games focus on improving individual ball control, passing accuracy, defensive skills, and overall game awareness. Players continue to build teamwork and sportsmanship while playing in a non-competitive, inclusive environment.
The program follows a game-based approach where players participate in weekly practices and weekend games, allowing them to apply their skills in real match situations. At this stage, players who show an increased interest in soccer may choose to continue progressing within the Chargers Soccer Club development pathway.
For older recreational players, the program offers an opportunity to continue enjoying the game in a structured, yet relaxed, setting. This stage is ideal for those who wish to stay active, develop their skills further, and engage in friendly competition without the demands of a highly competitive travel program.
The focus remains on skill refinement, tactical understanding, and fitness while maintaining a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Players participate in weekly practices and scheduled matches against other community-based teams, fostering camaraderie and a lifelong love for the game.
