Tribute to Gary MacMath

The Chargers Soccer Club is saddened by the passing of one of our devoted volunteers, Gary MacMath.

Gary was an integral part of the Chargers Soccer Club during its years of growth and expansion. Whether working alongside staff to improve the Club in countless ways or quietly serving behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly, Gary generously gave his time and energy to help make the Club successful. He also dedicated countless hours to helping make our annual Labor Day Tournament an event that everyone associated with the Chargers could be proud of.

More recently, Gary could be found at the fields supporting his family, watching his son, Chargers Goalkeeper Director Zac MacMath, and cheering on his grandson as he began a new generation of Chargers Soccer.

Gary’s kindness, dedication, and commitment to the Chargers Soccer Club will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by everyone associated with the Club.

As longtime Chargers Director of Coach, Peter Mannino, shared:

“Gary was the first person to volunteer whenever something needed to be done. He never wanted recognition—he simply wanted the Club to succeed.”

We extend our heartfelt condolences, love, and support to the MacMath family during this difficult time and hope you will keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
