What is the Pre-MLS Program?

The Chargers Soccer Club Pre-MLS Program is the premier developmental pathway for players in the U9 through U12 age groups, designed to prepare them for advancement into the MLS NEXT program. This program provides a professional training environment, elite-level competition, and the foundational development necessary to excel at the highest levels of youth soccer in the United States.

FAL

Chargers Soccer Club’s Pre-MLS teams will compete in the prestigious Florida Academy League. The Florida Academy League serves as the highest level of competition for U9-U12 players in the state of Florida. The league brings together the most advanced youth academies across the state, ensuring our players are regularly challenged against top talent in the region.

WFPL

This league features multiple competition levels and is designed to support both developing and advanced teams with consistent, quality matches throughout the season. The WFPL aligns with our club’s mission to provide long-term player development through high-level competition and coaching.

The Pathway to MLS NEXT

The Pre-MLS Program is the official pathway into the Chargers Soccer Club MLS NEXT Program! Beginning at U9, players enter an age-appropriate development model that focuses on technical mastery, tactical awareness, and physical literacy. As players progress through U10, U11, and U12, they are evaluated and prepared for selection into MLS NEXT at U13 — the top level of youth soccer in the United States.

What is MLS NEXT?

MLS NEXT is the highest and most competitive youth soccer platform in the country, operated by Major League Soccer. It represents the top clubs and players in the USA, providing unparalleled exposure to college programs, professional academies, and U.S. Youth National Teams. Entry into MLS NEXT is an earned privilege, and participation in Chargers’ Pre-MLS program is the first critical step in that journey.
